The Group’s principal function is education of its members and other landholders. It does this through monthly meetings at its Landcare Centre at Tallegalla and conducting workshops and field days when funding allows. Monthly meetings are informal, always feature a guest

speaker and include interesting input from members in the popular ‘Show and Tell’ session.

All administration is looked after by the Management Committee. The Group also provides technical and financial assistance to landholders for on-ground works on their own properties. Almost all funding is derived from competitive grants, principally from state and

federal governments, so is not always available. Current projects include rehabilitation of the Black Snake Creek catchment and revegetation of a 1.5 km section of Lockyer Creek.

Advocacy and consultation on environmental issues is the Group’s third function. An example of this is the major role the Group played in the development of the Upper Black Snake Creek Improvement Plan and continues to play in the implementation of its recommendations.

For all of its activities, the Group’s goal is that members leave feeling that it was time well spent – that they learnt something and had a pleasant experience.
